The University of Limerick (UL) has over 14,000 students and 1,500 staff. Graduates of the Food Science and Health BSc programme number up to 45 students annually.
The themes of the food science research programme at UL include: food protein ingredients, functional foods, microbial starter cultures and food safety as well as the role of nutrition in different life stages.
UL is involved with numerous national and internationally funded research programmes including the UL-hosted Dairy Processing Technology Centre (DPTC), Food for Health Ireland (FHI) and the Marine Biodiscovery Laboratory in Ireland (NMBLI).
